Second day today, I was introduced to something very important today. Brandon had me created a script for our weekend home games for soccer and volleyball. I have not done this before and Brandon states the first thing someone is going to ask when interviewing for a marketing position in athletics is, Have you written a script? I was very apprehensive before I started writing them but it was not as tough as I thought it would be. There are certain things that are required to be in the script like Horizon League announcements and another intern wrote something for the athletic department’s smartphone app, called Raider Up! Rewards.
When I first started writing the rest of the script Brandon advised me that I was writing them more so as if I were writing an article for a newspaper instead of for a PA script. I had to tone down the artistic-ness of my writing to be more straight forward. As time went on I got the hang of it and was really proud of myself for doing it. I was told this is something that I would be doing a lot of during the duration of the internship.
