Today is the day I was given my first big project. I was tasked with redesigning the Visiting Team Guide for the athletic department! Brandon told me that this was a really important document for the university. As I looked at the current one the university uses I thought to myself, “Who would look at this?” There was no color on the guide and it was easily forgettable. The first thing I did when starting this project was to research some other schools visiting team guides and see what a good one looks like. The first one I was able to find was LSU’s basketball visiting team guide. It had the schools tiger logo very big on the first page and as a watermark on the other pages. I knew right then that this is how I was going to mold our visiting team guide after. Brandon told me that this was something that was not going to take a day or week so he wanted me to take my time on it.
Today was one of my less adventurous days to start off. I spent a lot of the day adding prize signups to a database. I had to put in peoples’ names, addresses and phone numbers. It’s necessary for ticket sales in the future. Later I was given a flyer that I was to get posted on campus. I had to fill out a form that tells the director of residence services where all of the flyers are supposed to go. They would then put flyers up in all of the dorms hallways and community rooms. I then went around to the campus buildings where there are public boards and posted up flyers so that students going to class would know about the game.
I learned how to get the flyers out to all the students on campus that live in dorms and where all to place flyers on campus boards. This is some of the groundwork that needed to be done. Being a regular fan you would just see those flyers up and wouldn’t think twice about how they got there. It is never fun walking around a whole college campus to put flyers on display boards. |
